He was the sixth richest African in 2017, according to Forbes.
He runs Orascom Construction Industries; which is one of the largest nitrogen fertilizer producers in the world.
His main sources of wealth are construction and chemicals.
He joined the Orascom Group in 1982.
Orascom Construction Industries owns 50 percent of BESIX group, one of the largest Belgian construction groups.
Orascom is operational in over 25 countries across the globe, including Pakistan, North Korea, Spain, Northern Iraq, Algeria, Turkey and Egypt.
The company again has a joint venture with Swiss Cement manufacturer, Holcim. According to Bloomberg, Nassef has stakes in the sportswear company Adidas.
Nassef was born on the 1st January, 1961.
He had his secondary education in the German International School of cairo, Egypt.
He then continued at the University of Chicago and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in the year 1982.
He is married with four children and lives in London.
He has two brothers.
His siblings are Naguib Sawiris and Samih Sawiris (both are entrepreneurs).
He has been a member of the Cleveland clinic’s international Leadership Board Executive Committee since 2011.
In 2013, he became a member of the University of Chicago’s Board of Trustees.
He was once a Board Member of the Egyptian Stock Exchange and NASDAQ Dubai.
He is responsible for the construction of the Nile City Towers in Egypt – a pair of 32 floors commercial buildings.
